It is impossible to think of France without wine as impossible it is to think of wine without France. 

France still suppliers more incredible wine in greater variety than any other country in the world.

Geography is key. France is washed by the Atlantic and lapped by the Mediterranean. It is uniquely situated with the influence of the continent to the east and has a rich variety of soils, including more of the precious calcaire (limestone) so favourable to wine quality.
